About

Dental Hygiene is a big deal in the United States.  It is one of the areas that is entrenched into the minds of our children when they are young and we are trying to keep up the trend.  It is a big part of most Americans' daily routine and we have been told since we were young to brush your teeth at least twice a day and if you are really fancy you should floss every day as well.  Now this is actually great advice and can help keep your teeth healthy and the cost of dental bills down when you are young and old.  But there are some other things that directly relate to dental health and many of them are involved with your daily diet.  One thing most of us don't really pay attention to when it comes to health and teeth is what we drink.  Drinks play a huge part in dental health and the ingredients can drastically change our health.

The majority of Americans consume pop on a weekly and many on a daily basis.  This is shocking and it turns out that most cans of pop have at least a cup of sugar in them.  That is staggering considering that some of us drink at least a can of pop every day.  That is one cup of sugar per day going through your teeth. This can have drastic repercussions on your dental health.  But why is this? It is because sugar has been directly linked to tooth decay and causes major issues with dental health.  If you are consuming unhealthy beverages on a daily basis you can drastically lesson the lifespan of your teeth.

The acid that is also linked with many favorite beverages can also erode your teeth.  I have personally done tets with Coca Cola and watched it erode metal and bits of things overnight.  The acidity of it is almost as much as hydrochloric acid and that has very bad implications on your teeth. Now if you can there are some really good beverages to go after.

If you can try and drink as much water as you can for a beverage.  It is a great help to keep you hydrated and help your dental health.  The more you drink on water the more you are cleaning your teeth by helping get those loose particles out. So if you are able and capable of drinking more water go for it!
